Fear Called

I was cruising along
a well-paved path
on my journey,
when a ringing called to me
from times I thought had passed.
A bit too willingly I answered
the call,
certain I was in the right place
at the right time.
The seductive voice of Fear
tantalized me,
I invited it into my life.
Suddenly
I was afraid to stumble,
and so I fell.
I was afraid of the unknown future,
and so I clung to the past, paralyzed.
A crow cawed from above;
instantly I looked up
the sun creating a halo
around the shiny black wings.
As if a spell were broken,
light magically flowed
awakening Love.
Fear sighed, dissipating, pushed away.
My heart opened to a profound love.
I said goodbye and hung up on fear.
I glanced at the path before me
eager for the journey to begin again…

in a tickling breeze
hurry, rush,
capture this precious moment
for it is fleeting
subject to strong winds,
rapidly Time approaches
for each to simply let go
not in spite,
but simply because it is time.

a space into which she can grow
under Spring’s reign
she settles into the warm dirt
and puts down roots
then reaches toward the light
grateful to be a weed,
who flourishes where she lands.

race carefree like small children
excited to reach the center
contagious giggles radiating
eager to exit
simply a game, a path

noting the growth of flowers
their vibrancy, fragrance,
their invitation to the hummingbird
how they reach toward the light
how this simple labyrinth
reflects life

A Spring Moment

 

The moon sits before me
high in the afternoon sky
while the sun warms my back
in the brisk early spring winds
bouncing across the channel
drums beat in the distance
I swing gently swaying into a peaceful space
flowers blooming brilliant reds, yellows, purples
proclaiming the coming of spring.
